New ETA Requirements for New Zealand starting October 1st

Visiting New Zealand is going to require you, to get ETA( Electronic Travel Authorization) starting October 1st 2019. Citizens of 60 countries along with U.S., will be requiring eTA to enter or to transit through New Zealand. All Citizens of VISA Wavier countries would need ETA Visa when visiting one of the most scenic, breathtaking countries in the world. New Zealand is not only know for its landscape, but is also seeked by Adventure Lovers. After all Queenstown, is called birth place of Bungee Jumping. Australia, was the first country to implement ETA and e-visa’s to select counties in 1996.

eTA will be launched in July 2019 for New Zealand and could be obtained by filling in an online application form. It would be valid for 2 years and for multiple entries into the country. Along with the ETA Fee, New Zealand is introducing the Tourist levy tax on all visitors and transit passengers.

The fees are going to be as follows :

  • ETA Application fee using mobile app- 9 NZD
  • ETA Application fee using website- 12 NZD
  • International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy Tax- 35 NZD

Travelers will be paying the new Levy along with the ETA application fee and the Tourism Levy is valid till the expiry of the ETA, which is 2 years for regular passports.

Crew members would be given ETA, which is going to be valid for 5 years.

It may take up to 72 hrs to approve the ETA. So, make sure to give enough time to apply for the approval, before you plan to board the flight. Though in most cases, it could be approved much faster.
