Montenegro – 87th Country Visited

Planning for Montenegro:

Montenegro is a Balkan country with rugged mountains, medieval villages and a narrow strip of beaches along its Adriatic coastline. Podgorica is the capital city of Montenegro, but Budva and Kotor are more tourist friendly cities in this country. The currency of Montenegro is Euro. I Visited Montenegro in September 2023.

Reaching Montenegro:

I traveled from Tirana, Albania to Budva, Montenegro by purchasing a ticket at getbybus.com for 23€.

Accommodation in Montenegro:

I stayed at Vila Lux Hotel in Budva, Montenegro for 47$ per night. I booked my stay on Capital one Venture X Credit Card. It offers 10 Points per $ spent on Hotel bookings.

Boots on the Ground:

1. Kotor:

There are buses to Kotor from Budva almost every hour from central Bus station. The cost of the ticket is 4.50€. The return ticket to Budva cost me 5€. The ticket could be paid with only cash.

The old town of Kotor is Fortified. Cathedral of Saint Tryphon inside the Fortified oldtown of Kotor is a must-see attraction.

The price of ticket to climb Saint John Fortress is 8 Euro. It took more than an hour for me to climb to the top of the fortress from where I saw stunning views of Bay of Kotor by Adriatic Sea. It took 30 minutes for me to climb down to get back to Oldtown Kotor.

I left Budva, Montenegro to go to Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina for 29.07€ on Flix Bus. The bus station would charge extra 2 Euro as facility charge when getting on the Bus at Budva.
