Reaching Albania:
Traditionally when tourists start in Ohrid, North Macedonia, there are 2 routes that they take to reach Tirana/Berat in Albania. They go from Saint Naum Monastery or from Struga. I took an alternate route as I did not see convenient buses on the date I started in Ohrid. I took a bus to Kichivo from Ohrid for 7 Euros. From Kichivo to Tirana I took another bus for 12 Euros. I purchased both the bus tickets in ticket office at the Bus Station in Ohrid.
Boots on the Ground:
After getting off the bus in Tirana Pallati Sportit Rusi Bus Terminal, I left my luggage in a cafe by paying 5 Euros. Berat Bus starts at North South Terminal in Tirana, Albania. So, I walked to this terminal early in the morning. It took around 30 minutes to get there. Alternately public buses are also available to go to this bus terminal, when you come to the main street. The vans that start here charge 5 Euro or 500 Leke to go to Berat.
Places to see in Albania:
1. Berat: Once I got off at Bus Station in Berat, I took a short local bus ride to get to the city center.
When I got off at the city center in Berat, I took best pictures of Mangalem quarters from the New Bridge. Osum River bisects the city into the Mangalem and Gorica quarters.
2.Tirana
Albania is known for its affordable beaches among the Balkan nations. Other must-see places in Albania, include Butrint National Park, Kruje, Gjirokastër, Himare, Shkodra, Durres, Dhermi, Elbasan and Sarande. Special mention of Sarande is to be made here for its Beaches and because of its proximity to Corfu Greek Island, which is just a ferry ride away.
