Serbia – 82nd Country Visited

Planning for Serbia:

Serbia is a landlocked country in Southeast Europe located in the Balkans and the Pannonian Plain. The capital of Serbia is Belgrade. The Currency of Serbia is Serbian Dinar. I Visited Serbia in September 2023.

Flights into Serbia:

I flew into Serbia from Cyprus by WIZZ air. The ticket was 59.99€ from Larnaca, Cyprus (LCA) to Belgrade (BEG) in Serbia.

I landed at Nikola Tesla Airport. Also was available a small van number A1 that would take you directly to city center nonstop for 400 Serbian Dinar. I did see that Nikola Tesla Airport had Cash Exchange Machines in the checked baggage collection area. These machines would take US Dollar, Euro and UK pounds and convert them to Serbian Dinar.

From the airport Bus number 72 took me to the city center.

Boots on the Ground:

I stayed in Belgrade for just one day and took a self-guided tour by myself using the public transportation in Belgrade. When I was in Belgrade, I realized that I could not purchase a public transit ticket as all the users of public transit there, were using their phones to purchase the passes. As I didn’t have a SIM card from Serbia, I could not purchase a ticket online. So, when I offered cash to the bus drivers, they asked me to get on the bus without accepting the cash. So, I got free public transit ride during my one-day tour around the city of Belgrade.

Places I visited in Belgrade are as follows:

1. Belgrade Fortress: Beautiful views to the city as well as Danube and Sava rivers form the fort.

Serbia
Belgrade Fort

2. Saint Michaels Cathedral:

3. Nikola Tesla Museum

4. Saint Sava Temple

5. Parliament Building

Other places in Belgrade that are of touristic importance are Novi Sad Petrovaradin Fortress Clock, Skull tower in Nis, which shows how ottoman empire suppressed the upraising.  Last, but not the least is the Legends of Devil town near Kursumlija.

From Belgrade, I left for Sophia Bulgaria by a Bus.
